A) Increased by 8.9%
B) Decreased by 8.9%
C) Increased by 9.8%
D) Decreased by 9.8%
Correct Answer: A
Solution :
(a)Let the strength of school in 2000 be 100. |
Then, in year 2001 strength increased by 10%. |
So, new strength = 110% of 100\[=\frac{110\times 100}{100}=110\] |
In year 2002, strength decreased by 10%. |
So, new strength = 90% of 110\[=\frac{90\times 110}{100}=99\] |
Again in year 2003, it increased by 10%. |
So, new strength = 110% of 99\[=\frac{110\times 99}{100}=108.9\] |
Hence, the strength in 2003 as compared to 2000 is increased by 8.9%. |
