A man walks 7.5 km at a speed of 3 km/h. At what speed would the man need to walk during the next 2 h to have an average of 4 km/h for the entire session?

    A) 3.65 km/h

    B) 4.75 km/h

    C) 5.25 km/h

    D) 6.50 km/h

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    (c)
Let speed of walking be x km/h.
    Total time taken \[=\frac{7.5}{3}+2=4.5\,\,h\]
    Total distance covered \[=7.5+2x\]
    \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{7.5+2x}{4.5}=4\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[7.5+2x=18\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[2x=10.5\]
    \[\therefore \]Speed of walking \[=5.25\,\,km/h\]
