A shopkeeper sells a pair of sunglasses at a profit of 25%. If he had bought it at 25% less and sold it for Rs. 10 less than he would have gained 40%. Determine the cost price of the pair of sunglasses |
A) Rs. 50
B) Rs. 25
C) Rs. 75
D) Rs. 60
Correct Answer: A
Solution :
Let the CP of pair of sunglasses be Rs. \[x,\]then |
\[\text{SP}=x+25\]% of \[x=\frac{5}{4}x\] |
\[x-25\]% of \[x+40\]% of \[(x-25\]%\[ofx)=\frac{5}{4}x-10\] |
\[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{3x}{4}+\frac{2}{5}\times \frac{3x}{4}=\frac{5}{4}x-10\] |
\[\Rightarrow \]\[15x+6x-25x=-\,\,200\] |
\[\therefore \] \[x=50\] |
CP of pair of sunglasses = Rs. 50 |
