A cycle dealer offers a discount of 10% and still makes a profit of 26%. What does he pay for a cycle whose marked price is Rs. 840? [SSC (CGL) Mains 2014] |
A) Rs. 600
B) Rs. 650
C) Rs. 700
D) Rs. 750
Correct Answer: A
Solution :
Discount percent = 10 and marked price = Rs. 840 |
\[\therefore \]Selling price |
\[=\frac{(100-\text{Discount}\,\,\text{percent})\times \text{Marked}\,\,\text{price}}{100}\] |
\[=\frac{90\times 840}{100}=\text{Rs}\text{.}\,\,756\] |
Now, dealer still gains a profit of 26%. |
\[\therefore \]CP of cycle\[=\frac{100\times \text{SP}}{100+\text{Profit}\,\,\text{percent}}\] |
\[=\frac{100\times 756}{(100+26)}=\frac{75600}{126}=Rs.\,\,600\] |
