What is the difference between average number of linen shirts sold by stores D and E together and average number of cotton shirts sold by the same stores together? |
A) 2920
B) 2880
C) 2940
D) 3140
Correct Answer: C
Solution :
Total number of shirts (linen and cotton) sold by six different store in 2003 = 84000 |
Total shirts sold by store D = 12% of 84000 |
\[=\frac{12}{100}\times 84000=10080\] |
Number of linen shirts sold by store D |
\[=\frac{5}{8}\times 10080=6300\] |
Number of cotton shirts sold by store D |
\[=10080-6300=3780\] |
Total shirts sold by store E = 28% of 84000 |
\[=\frac{28}{100}\times 84000=23520\] |
Number of linen shirts sold by store E |
\[=\frac{4}{7}\times 23520=13440\] |
Number of cotton shirts sold by store E |
\[=23520-13440=10080\] |
Now, average number of linen shirts sold by stores D and E |
\[=\frac{6300+13440}{2}=9870\] |
and average number of cotton shirts sold by stores D and E \[=\frac{3780+10080}{2}=6930\] |
\[\therefore \]Required difference \[=9870-6930=2940\] |
