If the fractions \[\frac{1}{5},\]\[\frac{2}{7},\]\[\frac{3}{5},\]\[\frac{5}{6}\]and \[\frac{11}{13}\] are arranged in descending order of their values, which one will be the fourth?                                                                                                                           [NICL (AO) 2015]

    A) \[\frac{11}{13}\]

    B) \[\frac{2}{7}\]

    C) \[\frac{5}{6}\]

    D) \[\frac{1}{5}\]

    E) None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

For arranging them in ascending order, convert these fractions in decimal form,
    so         \[\frac{1}{5}=0.2,\] \[\frac{2}{7}=0.28,\] \[\frac{3}{5}=0.6\]
                \[\frac{5}{6}=0.83,\]\[\frac{11}{13}=0.84\]
    In descending order 0.84 > 0.83 > 0.6 > 0.28 > 0.02
    or         \[\frac{11}{13}>\frac{5}{6}>\frac{3}{5}>\frac{2}{7}>\frac{1}{5}\]
    Hence, fourth will be \[\frac{2}{7}.\]
