    [IBPS RRB (Office Assistant) 2015]

    A) Rs. 26000

    B) Rs. 36250

    C) Rs. 27000

    D) Rs. 24250

    E) Rs. 30000

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Let Neet's total monthly salary be Rs. x.
    Expenditure =(20%+15%)=35%
    Remaining amount = 65%
    Ratio of the amount invested and amount left is 5: 8.
    \[\frac{\text{6500}}{\text{65 }\!\!%\!\!\text{ }\,\,\text{of}\,x-6500}=\frac{5}{8}\]
                \[\Rightarrow \]   \[6500\times 8=5\,\,\left( \frac{65}{100}x-6500 \right)\]
                \[\Rightarrow \]   \[52000=\frac{65}{20}x-32500\]
                \[\Rightarrow \]   \[84500=\frac{13}{4}x\]
                \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{84500\times 4}{13}=x\]
                \[\therefore \]      \[26000=x\]
    Hence, monthly salary is Rs. 26000.
