Direction: In each of these questions three statements followed by two conclusions numbered land II have been given. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows. Give answer
    Statements: All dhabas are restaurants.
    Some hotels are restaurants.
    No hotel is a residence.
Conclusions: I. Some residences can be restaurants.
II. Some residences are not dhabas.

    A)  if conclusion I follows.

    B)  if conclusion II follows.

    C)  if either conclusion I or II follows.

    D)  if neither conclusion I nor II follows.

    E)  if both conclusion I and II follow.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Some hotels are restaurants (I) \[\to \] conversion \[\to \] Some restaurants are hotels (I) + No hotel is a residence (E) = I + E = O = Some restaurants are not residences (O). But the possibility in I exists. Hence I follows. Again, All dhabas are restaurants (A) + Some restaurant are not residences (O) = A + O = No conclusion. Hence II does not follow.
