Direction: In this question, three statements followed by two conclusions are given. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance with commonly known facts and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows disregarding commonly known facts.
Statements:     No MD is a physician.
                            No physician is a cardiologist.
                            AIMBBS are MDs.
Conclusions:    I. Some MDs can be cardiologists.
II. At least some physicians are MBBS.
    Give answer

    A) if only conclusion I follows.

    B)  if only conclusion II follows.

    C)  if either conclusion I or II follows.

    D)  if neither conclusion I nor II follows.

    E)  if both conclusion I and II follow.

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

All MBBS are MDs (A) + No MD is a physician (E) = A + E = E = No MBBS is a physician (E). Hence conclusion II does not follow. Again, No MD is a physician (E) + No physician is a cardiologist (E) = E + E = No conclusion. But, the possibility in me exists. Hence conclusion I follows.
