      Here, mass of shell = 30 kg Initial velocity of shell Total initial momentum On exploding, mass of one part = 18 kg, Hence, mass of other part = 30 -18 = 12kg   (1) The first part comes to rest, i.e., Let the velocity of other part Then total final momentum                                                                                                                                                                                                    (1) Applying law of conservation of momentum, we have Total final momentum = Total initial momentum                                                                                                                                                                      (1)
