Direction: are based on the following passage.
Silk moth is an insect which is economically important for us as it is the producer of silk. Life cycle of a silk moth is very interesting. A silk moth has four different stages in his life and in each stage it appears amazingly different. A silk moth starts its life as an egg. After about 10 days of incubation, the egg is hatched into larva called the caterpillar or silkworm. The caterpillar is voracious eater and needs a continuous supply of food (mulberry leaves). The newly hatched larva feeds continuously and grows rapidly. The next stage in the life cycle of the silk moth is pupa. When the caterpillar has grown large enough and is ready to go to the stage of pupa, it starts weaving a net around itself to hold itself. It then secrets a fibre made of protein, which hardens on exposure to air. This is the silk fibre. It covers itself completely with this fibre to form a cocoon. At this stage the larva is called pupa. The pupa grows and changes inside the cocoon. After sometime, the pupa enters into the adult stage and emerges out of the cocoon as a moth.
