A batsman Scores 80 runs in his sixth innings and thus increases his average by 5. What is his average after six innings?

    A)  50

    B)  55

    C)  60

    D)  65

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let the average of 5 innings \[=x\] Score in sixth innings \[=80\] \[\therefore \]  Total of 5 innings \[=5x\] According to question,             \[\frac{5x+80}{6}=x+5\] Or         \[5x+80=6x+30\] Or         \[x=80-30=50\] \[\therefore \] His average after sixth innings = 50 + 5 = 55
