    Let the number of men in the beginning = x Then,    \[\frac{x+8}{x}=\frac{60}{50}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{x+8}{x}=\frac{6}{5}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[6x=5x+40\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=40\]
