    Solution :

    Let the larger part of the sum = Rs. x \[\therefore \] Smaller part \[Rs.(12000-x)\] According to the question,             \[\frac{x\times 3\times 12}{100}=\frac{(1200-x)\times 9\times 16}{2\times 100}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[36x=(12000-x)72\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=(12000-x)\times 2\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x+2x=24000\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3x=24000\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{24000}{3}\]             \[=Rs.\,8000\]
