    Let the CP of article be Rs. x. \[\therefore \] SP of article \[=\frac{60\times 85}{100}=Rs.\,51\] After offering gift, \[SP=51-3=Rs.\,48\] \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{x\times 120}{100}=48\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{48\times 100}{120}=Rs.\,40\]
