Some toffees were bought at the rate of 11 for? 10 and the same number at the rate of 9 for Rs. 10. If the whole lot was sold at Rs. 1 per toffee, then the gain or loss in the whole transaction was

    A) Loss 1%

    B) gain 1%

    C) Neither gain nor loss

    D) gain 1.5%

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

For the sake of convenience, let the number of toffees o each type bought be 99 (LCM 11 and 9). CP of first kind of 99 toffees = Rs. 90 CP of second kind of 99 toffees = Rs. 110 \[\therefore \]      CP of 198 toffees = Rs. 200 \[\therefore \]      SP of 198 toffees = Rs. 198 Loss = Rs. 2 Loss per cent \[=\frac{2}{200}\times 100=1%\]
