A boy has a few coins of denominations 50 paise, 25 paise and 10 paise in the ratio 1 : 2 : 3. If the total amount of the coins is Rs. 6.50, the number of 10 paise coins is

    A) 5

    B) 10

    C) 15

    D) 20

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Ratio of the value of coins \[\frac{1}{2}:\frac{2}{4}:\frac{3}{10}=5:5:3\] \[\therefore \] Value of the 10 paise coins             \[=Rs.\,\left( \frac{3}{13}\times 6.50 \right)\]             \[=Rs.\,1.5\] \[\therefore \] Number of 10 paise coins             \[=1.5\times 10=15\]
