An amount of Rs. 100000 is invested in two types of shares. The first yields an interest of 9% per annum and the second yields 11% per annum. If the total interest at the end of one year is \[9\frac{3}{4}%,\] then the amount invested in each share was

    A) Rs. 72500, Rs. 27500

    B) Rs. 62500, Rs. 37500

    C) Rs. 52500, Rs. 47500

    D) Rs. 82500, Rs. 17500

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let the first part \[=Rs.\,x\] \[\therefore \] Second part \[=Rs.(100000-x)\] \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{x\times 9\times 1}{100}+\frac{(100000-x)\times 11\times 1}{100}\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[36x+4400000-44x=3900000\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[8x=500000\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=62500\] \[\therefore \]      First part \[=Rs.\,62500\] and second part \[=Rs.\,37500\]
