    Solution :

    Let the age of son is x years, then the age of father 30x yr. According to question,             \[30x+18=3(x+18)\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[27x=36\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{4}{3}\] \[\therefore \]      Age of father \[=30\times \frac{4}{3}=40\,yr\]
