  • question_answer
The volume of a cuboid is twice the volume of a cube. If the dimensions of the cuboid are 9 cm, 8 cm and 6 cm, the total surface area of the cube is

    A) \[\text{72}\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]

    B) \[216\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]

    C) \[432\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]

    D) \[108\,\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Since, the dimensions of the cuboid are 9 cm, 8 cm and 6 cm \[\therefore \]      Volume of cuboid \[=9\times 8\times 6=432\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{\text{3}}}\] Now volume of cube \[=\frac{1}{2}\times 432=216\] \[\therefore \]      Side of a cube \[=\sqrt[3]{{{6}^{3}}}=6\,\text{cm}\] \[\therefore \] Total surface area of a cube \[=6{{a}^{2}}=6\times {{6}^{2}}=216\,\text{c}{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\]
