The monthly incomes of A and B are in the ratio 4 : 3. Each of them saves Rs. 600. If the ratio of their expenditure is 3 : 2, then what is the monthly income of A?

    A) Rs. 2400

    B) Rs. 1800

    C) Rs. 2000

    D) Rs. 3600

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Let monthly incomes of A's and B's are 4x and 3x and monthly expenditures of A's and B's are 3y and 2y. Each saving \[=Rs.\,600\] \[\because \]       \[\text{Income}-\text{Expenditure}=\text{Saving}\] \[\therefore \]      \[4x-3y=600\]                            ?(i)             \[3x-2y=600\]                            ?(ii) On solving Eqs. (i) snd (ii). We get             \[x=600\] \[\therefore \]      A's income \[=4x\]                              \[=4\times 600=Rs.\,2400\]
