    \[\therefore \]      \[x-\frac{6x}{100}=564\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{94}{100}=564\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=Rs.\,600\] and       \[y-\frac{y}{100}=396\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{99y}{100}=396\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[y=Rs.\,400\] Total MP amount \[=\text{ }600\text{ }+\text{ }400\]                           \[=Rs.1000\] Total amount after discount \[=564+364\text{ }=Rs.\,960\] \[\therefore \] Discount per cent \[=\frac{1000-960}{1000}\times 100\]                               \[=\frac{40}{10}%=4%\]
