The ratio between the annual incomes of A and B is 4 : 3 and between their annual expenditures is 3 : 2. If at the end of a year both save Rs. 600 each. The difference in their incomes is

    A) Rs. 450

    B) Rs. 500

    C) Rs. 600

    D) Rs. 750

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Let the incomes of A and B are Rs. 4x and Rs. 3x and their expenditure are Rs. 3y and Rs. 2y respectively, \[\therefore \]      \[4x-3y=600\]                            ...(i) and       \[3x-2y=600\]                            ...(ii) On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get             \[x=600,\] \[y=600\] \[\therefore \] Incomes of \[A=Rs.\,4x=Rs.\,2400\] and income of B \[=Rs.\,3x=Rs.\,1800\] \[\therefore \] Required difference \[=Rs.\,600\]
