On what sum does the difference between the compound interest and the simple interest for 3 yr at 10% is Rs. 31?

    A) Rs. 1500

    B) Rs. 1200

    C) Rs. 1100

    D) Rs. 1000

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

We know that if the difference between CI and SI on a certain sum at r% per annum for 3 yr is Rs., x then sum is \[\frac{x(100)}{{{r}^{2}}(r+300)}\] Here,     \[r=10%,\] \[x=Rs.\,31\] \[\therefore \]      \[P=\frac{31{{(100)}^{3}}}{{{(10)}^{2}}(10+300)}\]             \[=\frac{31\times 100\times 100\times 100}{100\times 310}\]             \[=Rs.\,1000\]
