  • question_answer
A is three times more efficient worker than B and is, therefore, able to complete a work in 60 days earlier. The number of days, that A and B together will take to complete the work, is

    A)  \[22\frac{1}{2}\]

    B)  25

    C)  \[27\frac{1}{2}\]

    D)  30

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    A is three times more efficient than B. It means if A takes x days to complete a work, B will take 3x days. \[\therefore \]      \[3x-x=60\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=30\] Hence, A takes 30 days to finish the work and B takes 90 days. When they work together. \[\left( A+B \right)'s\] 1 days's work             \[=\frac{1}{30}+\frac{1}{90}\]             \[=\frac{3+1}{90}=\frac{9}{40}=\frac{2}{45}\] \[\therefore \] \[(A+B)\] Together can finish the work in \[\frac{45}{2}=22\frac{1}{2}\] days
