The difference between the length and breadth of a rectangle is 23 cm. If its perimeter is 206 cm, then its area is

    A)  \[1520\,\,c{{m}^{2}}\]

    B)  \[2420\,\,c{{m}^{2}}\]

    C)  \[2480\,\,c{{m}^{2}}\]

    D)  \[2520\,\,c{{m}^{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Let the breadth of rectangle \[=x\,cm\] \[\therefore \] The length of rectangle \[=(x+23)\,cm\] \[\therefore \]      \[2(x+23+x)=206\]        \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2x+23=103\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2x=80\,\,\,\Rightarrow \,\,\,x=40\] \[\therefore \] Length of rectangle \[40+23=63\,\,c{{m}^{2}}\] and breadth of rectangle \[=40\,cm\] \[\therefore \] Area of rectangle \[=63\times 40=2520\,\,c{{m}^{2}}\]
