    A man, a woman and a boy can complete a work in 20 days, 30 days and 60 days respectively. How many boys must assist 2 men and 8 women so as to complete the work in 2 days?

    Solution :

    Part of work done by 2 men and 2 women in 2 days. \[=2\left( \frac{2}{20}+\frac{8}{30} \right)\] \[=2\left( \frac{1}{10}+\frac{8}{30} \right)=2\left( \frac{3+8}{30} \right)\] \[=\frac{22}{30}=\frac{11}{15}\] Remaining work \[=1-\frac{11}{15}=\frac{4}{15}\] Work done by 1 boy in 2 days             \[=\frac{2}{60}=\frac{1}{30}\] \[\therefore \] Number of boys \[=\frac{4}{15}\times 30=8\]
