  • question_answer
Two poles of heights 9 in and 17m stand on a plane ground. If the distance between their feet is 15 m, then the distance between their tops is:

    A) 15 m

    B) 16 m

    C) 17 m

    D) 18 m

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Let AB & MN are two poles of height 9 in and 17m respectively \[\therefore \]   AP= BN- 15 cm MP = 17 - 9 = 8m \[\therefore \]  Distance between their tops =   \[\sqrt{M{{P}^{2}}+A{{P}^{2}}}=\sqrt{{{8}^{2}}+{{15}^{2}}}\] =    \[\sqrt{289}=\]
