    Average speed of scooters =         \[\frac{100+120}{\frac{100}{50}+\frac{120}{40}}=\frac{220}{5}km/hr\] =         44 km/hr Time taken by him to cover 242 km =         \[\frac{242}{44}=\mathbf{5}\frac{\mathbf{1}}{\mathbf{2}}\]hours
