Ram starts walking towards East. After 1 km, he turns South and walks 5 km. Again he turns East and walks 2 km. Finally, he turns to the North and walks 9 km. How far is he from the starting point?

    A)  \[5\text{ }km\]

    B)  \[7\text{ }km\]

    C)  \[3\text{ }km\]

    D)  \[4\text{ }km\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Distance (EP) \[=2\,km\Rightarrow BC=2\,km\] \[AB=4\text{ }km\text{ }\Rightarrow \text{ }BD=BC+CD\] \[BD=2+1=3\text{ }km\] Applying Pythagoras theorm - In \[\Delta \,ABD\] \[A{{D}^{2}}=A{{B}^{2}}+B{{D}^{2}}\Rightarrow AD=\sqrt{{{4}^{2}}+{{3}^{2}}}\] So, Ram is \[\]far away from the starting point
