    Solution :

     If the number be\[x\], then\[x\times \frac{75}{100}+75=x\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{3x}{4}+75=x\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x-\frac{3x}{4}=75\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{x}{4}=75\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=4\times 75=300\] \[\therefore \]      \[40%\]of\[300\]             \[=\frac{300\times 40}{100}=120\]
