Walking at \[\frac{3}{4}\] of his usual speed, a man reaches his office 20 minutes late. Then his usual time for walking to his office is:

    A)  1 hour

    B)  30 minutes

    C)  45 minutes

    D)       40 minutes

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

     Usual time = x minutes New time \[=\left( \frac{4x}{3} \right)\]minutes \[\left( \because \,\,Speed\propto \frac{1}{Time} \right)\] According to the question, \[\frac{4x}{3}-x=20\] \[\Rightarrow \]            \[\frac{x}{3}=20\] \[\Rightarrow \]  x = 60 minutes i.e. 1 hour.
