The solutions which have same osmotic concentration are known as :

    A) normal

    B) isotonic

    C) hypotonic

    D) hypertonic

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Two solutions having same osmotic pressure or osmotic concentrations are called isotonic solutions. Such solutions shall show no osmosis when kept    separated by a semipermeable membrane. A   solution   having   higher   osmotic concentration is called hypertonic with respect to the other. A solution having lower osmotic pressure (or concentration) relative to some other solutions is called hypotonic. NOTE: If two solutions with different concentrations are kept separated by a semipermeable membrane, there is a movement of solvent molecule from hypotonic to hypertonic solution.
