  • question_answer
The end products of fermentation are :

    A) methanol and \[C{{O}_{2}}\]

    B)  acetic acid and \[S{{O}_{2}}\]

    C) ethyle alcohol and \[C{{O}_{2}}\]

    D) formaldehyde and \[{{O}_{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Many fungi and some bacteria ferment sugar to ethyl alcohol and CO2 by the process of alcohol fermentation. It is a two step process. In the first step one molecule of glucose (sugar) is converted into two molecules of pyruvate and in the second step these two pyruvate molecules are decarboxilated to acetaldehide. Acetaldehyde then reduced to ethanol.
