    Solution :

Phytochromes are photo receptor chromoprotein or protein pigments. Phytochromes exists in two states blue and yellowish green. In higher plants these occurs in most of organs including flowers, fruits and seeds. Phytochromes are involved in photomorphogeneticrespones (except phototropic, photonastic). These are required in various physiological process as in seed germination, bud dormancy, synthesis of gibberellins and ethylene, photoperiodism and morphogenesis. Flowering is said to be initiated by a chemical florigen (not extrated yet) by Chailakhyan (1936).
