AFMC AFMC Solved Paper-2011

  • question_answer
A train, 110 m long, is running at as peed of60 km/h. How many seconds does it take to cross another train, 170 m long, standing on parallel track?

    A)  15.6

    B)  16.8

    C)  17.2

    D)  18

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                     Total length (distance)\[~=\left( \text{11}0+\text{17}0 \right)\text{m}=\text{28}0\,m\] Speed \[=\text{6}0\,km/h=\text{6}0\text{ }\times \frac{5}{18}=\frac{50}{3}\,m/s\] Hence, required time \[=\frac{Length(\text{distance})}{Speed}\]\[=\frac{280\times 3}{50}=16.8\,s\]
