  • question_answer
Sodium metal crystallises as a body centred cubic lattice with the cell edge\[4.29\overset{\text{o}}{\mathop{\text{A}}}\,\]. What is the radius of sodium atom (in cm)?

    A)  \[9.312\times {{10}^{-7}}\]

    B)         \[1.857\times {{10}^{-8}}\]

    C)  \[2.371\times {{10}^{-7}}\]

    D)  \[3.817\times {{10}^{-8}}.\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    In body centred cubic crystals, radius \[=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{4}\times edge\,length\] \[=\frac{\sqrt{3}}{4}\times 4.29\times {{10}^{-8}}cm\] \[=1.8576\times {{10}^{-8}}cm\]
