Rough E.R. differs from smooth E.R. due to the presence of:

    A)  DNA

    B)  nucleus

    C)  ribosome

    D)         enzyme

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Porter et.ai, (1945) discovered endoplasmic reticulum. It is a network of membranous sac like structure such as cisternae vesicles and narrow tubules. On the basis of presence or absence of ribosomes on the surface endoplasmic reticulum are of two types:          (i) Rough endoplasmic reticulum contains ribosomes on its surface and prominently present in protein synthesizing cells. It is also called as ergastoplasm. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum does not contain ribosomes on its surface. So, its surface is smooth and flat. It is also known as sarcoplasm and predominantly occur in fat synthesizing cells e.g., Muscles cells.
