AIIMS AIIMS Solved Paper-2000

  • question_answer
Half-life of a substance is 20 min, then the time between 33% decay and 67% decay will be:

    A) 20 min

    B)        40 min

    C)        50 min

    D)        10 min

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

The relation between decay constant \[(\lambda )\] and half-life (T) is   \[{{E}_{a}}=\frac{1}{4\pi {{\varepsilon }_{0}}}.\frac{2p}{{{r}^{3}}}N/C\]Time of decay \[{{E}_{q}}=\frac{1}{4\pi {{\varepsilon }_{0}}}.\frac{P}{{{r}^{3}}}N/C\] Time of decay for 33% disintegration is  \[\frac{{{E}_{a}}}{{{E}_{q}}}=\frac{2}{1}\] Time of decay for 67% disintegration is  JJ \[\Rightarrow \] Hence, difference of time is        \[{{E}_{a}}=2{{E}_{q}}\]
