The sun emirs a light with maximum wave length 510 nm while another star emits a light with maximum wavelength of 350 nm. The ratio of surface temperature of sun and the star will be:

    A) 0.68

    B)                                        2.1

    C)        1.45

    D)        0.46

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Key Idea: As the temperature of body is raised radiation of shorter and shorter wavelength is emitted. From Wiens displacement law \[\Delta t={{t}_{2}}-{{t}_{1}}=32-11.6=20.4\min \approx 20\min .\] where \[(\mu )=\frac{c}{v}\] is maximum wavelength, T is temperature. \[\Rightarrow \]  \[v=\frac{c}{\mu }\] \[\mu >1\]   \[(\mu =15)\]
