\[p{{K}_{a}}\] value of four acids are given below. The strongest acid is:

    A)  4.0

    B)  3.5

    C)                         2.5

    D)         2

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Strength of acid \[\propto \frac{1}{p{{K}_{a}}}\] \[\therefore \]  acid with \[p{{K}_{a}}=2.0\] is strongest acid and one with  \[p{{K}_{a}}=4.0\] is weakest acid.               Note:  \[p{{K}_{a}}=-\log {{K}_{a}}\] where \[{{K}_{a}}\] = ionisation constant of acid.
