Which equation shows correct form of Berthelot equation?

    A)  \[\left( P+\frac{a}{T{{(V+C)}^{2}}} \right)(V-b)=RT\]

    B)  \[\left( P+\frac{a}{T{{(V-C)}^{2}}} \right)(V-b)=RT\]

    C)  \[\left( P+\frac{a}{T{{V}^{2}}} \right)(V-b)=RT\]

    D)  \[\left( P+\frac{a}{T{{V}^{2}}} \right)(V+b)=RT\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Berthelot equation is: \[P+\frac{a}{T{{V}^{2}}}(V-b)=RT\] He introduce the volume correction in van der Waals equation, but the pressure correction was different. He introduced the correction as \[\frac{a}{T{{V}^{2}}}\] in place of \[\frac{a}{{{V}^{2}}}\].
