Acromegaly is due to hypersecretion of: 3

    A)  insulin

    B)                        throxin

    C)  growth hormone

    D)  none of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Growth hormone (GH) is secreted by anterior pituitary. It works with thyroid hormone and controlls the normal growth. Hypersecretion (over production) of growth hormones in children causes the bones to grow unusually long this results a condition known as gigantism. But in adults hyper secretion of GH causes the bones of hands and faces to thicken. This results a condition called as acromegaly.
