  • question_answer
The molarity of \[{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\] solution, which has a density 1.84 g/cc at \[{{35}^{o}}C\] and contains 98% by weight is:

    A)  1.84M

    B)         18.4 M

    C)         20.6 M

    D)         24.5 M

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    98% by mass means-98 g of \[{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\] is present in 100 got acid. \[M=\frac{given\,mass\times 1000}{mol.\,mass\times V}\] Given, mass = 98 g Mol. mass = 98 g \[V=\frac{mass}{density}=\frac{100}{1.84}\] \[\because \]  density of \[{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\] is 1.84 g/cc Putting the values: \[M=\frac{98\times 1000\,\times 1.84}{98\times 100}\,=18.4\,M\]
