    Assertion: Benzyl bromide when kept in acetone water it produces benzyl alcohol. Reason The reaction follows \[Cl{{O}_{2}}\] mechanism.

    Solution :

    The assertion that on keeping benzyl bromide in acetone water it produce benzyl alcohol is correct because \[{{C}_{6}}{{H}_{5}}C{{H}_{2}}Br\] is hydrolysed easily by acetone water. Also this reaction proceed by \[{{S}_{{{N}^{2}}}}\] mechanism.
