Assertion: Alkyl benzene is not prepared by Friedel-Crafts alkylation of benzene. Reason Alkyl halides are less reactive than acyl halides.

    A)  1

    B)  2

    C)         3

    D)         4

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Alkyl benzene is not prepared by Friedel-Crafts alkylation because the monoalkyl product undergo alkylation to produce polyalkylated benzene. The reason that acyl halide are more reactive than alkyl halide is also true but reason is not the correct explanation for assertion.
