In the following questions, Statement of assertion (A) is followed by a statement of reason (R).       1. If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion, then mark. 2. If both assertion and reason are true but the reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion, then mark. 3. If assertion is true statement but reason is false, then mark. 4. If both assertion and reason are false statements then mark.

Assertion: \[{{C}_{2}}O_{4}^{2-}\] and \[C{{u}_{2}}{{(SCN)}_{2}}\] are almost the same for the reaction, \[C{{u}_{2}}O\] Reason All reactants and products are gases.

    A)  1

    B)  2

    C)         3

    D)         4

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

\[{{N}_{2}}(g)+{{O}_{2}}(g)\rightleftharpoons 2NO(g)\] We know that \[\Delta H=\Delta E=\Delta nRT\] \[\Delta n=\]change in gaseous moles \[=2-2=0\] \[\therefore \]  \[\Delta H=\Delta E+ORT\] \[\Delta H=\Delta E\] Reason that all reactants and products are in gaseous state is also true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
