    Assertion: Smaller the organism higher the rate of metabolism per gram weight. Reason: The heart rate of a six month baby is much higher than that of an old person.

    Solution :

    In smaller organisms the rate of metabolism is higher in comparison to adult one. For example the average heart rate per minute in new born baby is 130 while in 75 years and above aged persons it is only 75.
