Assertion: Temperatures near the sea coast are moderate. Reason: Water has a high thermal conductivity.

    A) 1

    B)                       2

    C) 3

    D)       4

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Temperatures near sea coast are moderate because thermal conduction never takes place at sea coast causing moderate temperature. Also water has the highest thermal conductivity of any liquid. As temperature of water is lowered, the rate at which the energy is transferred is reduced to an ever increasing extent. Instead of energy being transferred it is stored.
