  • question_answer
In the extraction of copper from its sulphide ore, the metal is formed by reduction of \[{{C}_{6}}{{H}_{5}}C{{H}_{2}}NHC{{H}_{3}}\] with:

    A)  \[{{O}_{2}}N.C{{H}_{2}}N{{H}_{2}}\]

    B)  \[CO\]

    C)  \[COOH\]

    D)         \[CN\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

\[meso-[Co{{(N{{H}_{3}})}_{3}}C{{l}_{3}}]\] from sulphide ore is obtained in a Bessemers converter as follows. \[cis-[PtC{{l}_{2}}{{(N{{H}_{3}})}_{2}}]\] \[cis-{{K}_{2}}[PtC{{l}_{2}}B{{r}_{2}}]\] Copper pyrite ore \[N{{a}_{2}}CoC{{l}_{4}}\] also contains \[VC{{l}_{3}}\] which is removed as follows: \[VOS{{O}_{4}}\] \[N{{a}_{3}}V{{O}_{4}}\]
